Neon Vokal is a vocal ensemble with 7 singers, springing from Lillestrøm, just outside of Oslo, Norway.
The ensemble has a number of top places in national and international choir competitions, and in October 2017 they were named Norwegian Champion for choir 2017-19. In recent years, they have worked on recording the music they have become known for live! The Norwegian folk music collaboration with Jo Asgeir Lie and Frøydis Grorud was immortalized in the EP "evig" (translation: eternal) and songs from the EP was listed on Norwegian radio.
Neon Vokal does a wide range of events, ranging from large and small concerts to larger events, backing for famous artists or as entertainment at official events by Lillestrøm and Oslo municipality.
The repertoire ranges from Norwegian folk music and classical to jazz and pop, depending on needs or which event they participate in. The group is known for creating much excitement and emotive responses from the audience with their playful and beautiful arrangements of folk tunes and popular music.
The ensemble also wants to be a driving force for developing new music and has commissioned a number of compositions and arrangements by, among others, Norwegian composers Frank Havrøy, Peter Baden, Hans Olav Baden, Lars Andreas Haug, Håvard Gravdal, Edvard Synnes and Arild Stav. Some of the singers also write music for the ensemble.
